About Us

Mamistad was born November 9, 2005 in Falls Church VA.  My own amazing Mami was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 2004.  Caring for her while becoming a mother myself was difficult.  Her love of moms and babies is her legacy, and it lives on in Mamistad.

My own first pregnancy led me to seek and find more like me to share the journey. Mamistad just months before my beautiful daughter - and she was born into a loving sisterhood of awesome women.  Soon their babies became her first, and lifelong friends. I want as many women as possible to feel what I felt.

Until now, Mamistad has been geared toward first-time pregnant moms but now, in our effort to reach moms in other stages, we are connecting moms beyond New Mamihood.

Slowly we hope to spread to different cities and states.  As a Mami in any stage, you are welcome to submit your profile and become part of our network.  "Stay-at-home" vs "Office Mami" are the designations used to help determine your availability to meet with your group.  As a reminder, we are all working moms.

Groups are launched when at least 3-4 moms in a similar profile have attended an Info Session and have committed to a group. Members are added as more moms come along until the group has a max of 12 members.  When a group is full, I start building another one with a similar profile.

The Plan

Mamistad will continue to grow as long as Mamis keep coming - from every state! We will connect, share, blog, chat, learn, laugh, cry, win, lose, evolve and raise beautiful responsible human beings, together.

Frequently asked questions

What happens after I submit my profile?

You'll be routed to our Events page where we hope you'll sign up for the next New Member Zoom Chat to have all of your questions answered. You'll also reciive a welcome letter, usually within 1 or 2 days with more information about your potential group.

Do I have to attend a New Member Zoom Chat?

I ask that you attend a New Member Zoom Chat because there is a spirit to this group that I hope to convey in these meetings. It's also a great way for you to meet other new moms and feel apart of the group from the start. Members are usually even more excited to connect with their new groups after these meetings.

I work from home, where do I fit in?

One of the criteria for group placement is your post-delilvery work plans - Office or Stay-at-home. If you work from home, please choose the category that best matches your availability to connect with your group.

Can I get a refund if I don't like my group?

I ask all members to meet with their groups at least 3 times before they decide that the group is not for them. I also ask that you meet all the members (if possible) before making a decision. More times than not, moms make snap judgments about leaving groups and then return to try again. If your group still doesn't work for you, we will work together to find another group for you with a similar profile that is open to a new member.

Can I be in more than one group?

Yes, for your basic membership fee, I will place you in two groups as long as you are able to be active in both. Active means that your group members are in touch with you on a regular basis and that you are a supportive member of the group. They know that you attend events as often as possible. In other words, your group can vouch for the fact that you are "active". :)

Mamistad LLC currently connects first-time pregnant moms and moms of newborns in the Northern VA & DC & MD, Austin Texas and Denver Colorado areas. Our goal is to expand to include more cities and states.

Mamistad LLC was created to connect first-time pregnant moms and moms of newborns with others who are due (or delivered) within 3 months of their due date and who will be stay-at-home or office moms as they will. All moms are "working moms".  The Mamistad Network strives to form strong family communities while working with like-minded service providers that strive to strengthen and support those communities including, but not limited to, doulas, midwives, lactation consultants, birthing class providers and fitness classes.

Mamistad is now expanding to reach moms in more stages of motherhood and in a greater geographical area.
