Happy Mother's Day :)
Jazzy made me breakfast today!! I had Cheerios w/bananas, toast, blueberry yogurt and orange juice - she should make my breakfast everyday! SO CUTE.!! She and daddy gave me cards, flowers and gifts made by my angel - we had dinner later too. I am so very blessed.
We stopped by Mami's today and she was her usual cute self. We took her flowers and cookies, cards and a framed picture. She wasn't in her room so I found her smiling in the dining room as she sat at the table with a woman who was sleeping (on a stretcher type bed) and another who rarely smiles. She had her little alarm clicker on. I didn't realize and it dropped to the floor as I hugged her but it was off (accidentally I'm sure). We walked her to her room and gave her the gifts and hugs and besos and lots of "Happy Mother's Day"s. Jaz was so cute in her little tutu - Mina said "aw...look at the cute little baby!" I brought flowers to Sra. C - she was very grateful. I didn't see any other gifts in her room. I kissed her and wished her a Feliz Dia de Las Madres. I took flowers to Sra. M (the angel down the hall) and she was so grateful. She said hello to Reggie in her thick Spanish accent though her English is very good. She has a very loving and gracious nature - her company is addictive. She loves my mom so much too. I feel like I'm with family when I'm with her though I never really knew anyone in my family to be so expressive of their warmth and love. When we walked in she was asleep with the phone right next to her head. She woke as soon as we walked in and said that two of her children had called and she was waiting to hear from the third. She was hoping for a visit but she heard it was really windy so she would understand if her daughter couldn't make it. She'd stay by the phone in case she received a call instead. I was so glad we took flowers. After several more hugs and kisses we escorted Mami back to the dining room and left to take Grandma B. some flowers.
We found his mother confused and sad and his dad doing his best to cope and say the right things. Its sad - familiar and sad. Jaz is right at home in this environment. We hugged Grandma B and Reggie sat at the table while his dad ate his dinner. Grandma had been going: "I can't remember what I did but it was really bad...when I remember it I'll tell you what it is. You're going to say 'that woman is such a fool!' I feel just terrible..." After chatting with her for about 15 minutes I sat down next to her and held her hand. I said: "Grandma, stop trying to remember something you think is bad. That's the devil trying to bring you down. Tell him to leave you alone. Let God win - completely let it go and let God win. Whenever you're worried and confused like this just say over and over 'God is good, God is good!' Focus on that and look at the beautiful pictures of your family. Think of your beautiful Granddaughter who walked in here like an angel from the sky. God is good - let him win." I figured I was doing my usual useless pep talk though this is the first time I mentioned God to her (shame on me - I just never thought it really mattered to her - shame on me again). Her face brightened up and she said "Okay...God is good." I was amazed. I know it won't work long term but it worked for a few minutes and that's wonderful. God is good indeed.
Jaz cried when we left bc she wanted to stay and eat with her grandparents instead of going out to eat - very sweet. After a few pieces of Granddad's fried fish I guess she was satisfied. We headed out to Tyson's for a nice dinner. God really is good!
