Mamistad was born in Falls Church VA to bring first-time pregnant Mamis and Mamis of newborns together to share the joys, struggles, excitement and beauty of the  motherhood journey. In Spanish, Mami (say "mommy") means just that and Amistad (say "ah-mee-stahd") means friendship. Mamistad is a friendship of Mamis. 

Women need women!  Her first pregnancy and new motherhood is a time like no other in a woman's life.  She should feel supported and HAPPY!  My pregnancy group was invaluable to me when I was pregnant in 2006 and I want to help other Mamis build a similar support system. 

If you're looking to meet other first-time pregnant Mamis to share your journey with while being open to new ideas and willing to share your heart, then Mamistad is for you. 

Times have changed and being pregnant for the first time is a very different journey that it was in the past.  Work demands, distance from family and a fast paced world seem to mean a lot less personal connection in a time when new Mamis need it most.  Taking care of you Mami, is the first step in taking care of your family.
