Mamistad was born in Falls Church VA to bring first-time pregnant women and mamis of newborns together to share the struggles, joys and beauty of motherhood. In Spanish, Mami means (and is pronounced like) "mommy" and Amistad (say "ah-me-stahd") means friendship. Women need women!  Beyond that, pregnancy and new motherhood is a time like no other in woman's life.  She should feel supported and HAPPY!  My pregnancy group was invaluable to me when I was pregnant in 2006 and it is now my Mami group and closest circle of friends. I want to help other Mamis build a similar support system.
Mamistad is currently accepting first-time pregnant Mamis and Mamis of newborns only.  New members are required to attend a scheduled introductory meeting before being placed in a group.  Info about the next meeting will be posted on the Mamistad calendar as well as in the "Mami Weekly" email that all members receive. 
This amazing network of Mamis is powerful and our potential is unlimited.  Welcome!
